Between Amsterdam and Amstelveen is the Amsterdamse Bos ("Amsterdam Forest"), the largest recreational area in Amsterdam. These buildings were built according to the principles of the architect Hendrick de Keyser. Smaller streets, such as the Jodenbreestraat and Weesperstraat, were widened and almost all houses and buildings were demolished. It is housed in a modern building with a panoramic view over the harbour.
